1ST INTERNATIONAL BLIND SPORTS TOURNAMENT MADRID 2016 KICKS OFF
The 1st International Blind Sports Tournament Madrid 2016, organised by the Spanish Blind Sports Federation, the Spanish Paralympic Committee and the Madrid 2016 Olympic and Paralympic bid, kicked off on Tuesday at the Universidad Europea de Madrid in the Spanish capital.
The tournament includes international competitions in futsal and goalball, with many of the world’s best teams competing in one of the last major international events in the run up to the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing in September.
The futsal tournament kicked off on Tuesday evening and sees IBSA World Champions Argentina, European Champions Spain, Asian Champions China and France go head-to-head in a round-robin competition. The semi-finals will be played on Saturday and the 3rd-4th place match and final on Sunday morning.

The goalball event starts tomorrow morning (Friday 27th) and matches will run until Saturday evening. Germany, Algeria and Bulgaria will join the hosts Spain, and a Spanish youth team, in the men’s tournament while Algeria, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Sweden will face the hosts in the women’s event.
