Green Beer, Corned Beef, And Free Books?

Sean Kelly's is certainly one-of-a-kind for Missoula; technically, there are now two of a kind with its second more dramatic eatery location on North Reserve. This Irish pub house is locally famous for its hearty Irish menu, boasting corned beef and cabbage, Shepherd's pie cooked in Guinness, and many other delightful entrees. Though not traditional, they even offer a coconut curry tofu dish, Indian food, and a variety of rich pastas. This certainly is "where the Gaelic and the garlic mix," as Sean Kelly's claims.

Duffy's Irish Pub: Since its opening in 2006, Duffy's has been a popular pre show, post show concert destination on U Street. Located near the popular 930 Club, Duffy's has traditional Irish dishes like Fish and Chips, corned beef and rice and Cabbage, Shepherd's Pie and some of the best wings in the city. It feels more like a neighborhood bar when you steps in because of the friendly staff and patrons. They have weekly specials and St. Patrick's Day special that captures the feel of the holiday.

Looking for a great old fashioned Irish pub in Sin City? Look no further than McMullans. Live music is happening Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and there are gaming specials available at special times throughout the week. Happy hour happens daily where you can get $1 off well drinks, and domestic and imported drafts. Hungry for a taste of Ireland, try the slow cooker corned beef and cabbage and cabbage along with your Guinness.

For most families the second plan is much better. Base your menu on meat as usual, but plan to extend that meat dish when necessary with vegetables, or using cereal grains to make a meat loaf or meat patties for Salisbury steak with sauces slow cooker corned beef and cabbage gravies. We don't really realize but a small amount of meat can be extended to feed four people in two different meals. We just have to look at our portion sizes differently. The amount of meat to be eaten at a meal should be the size of the palm of your hand.

You won't be surprised to learn that the Kerry Blue Terrier hails from the Irish county of the same name. He has been purebred in that section of Ireland for more than a hundred years. Known for his superior working and hunting skills, the Kerry Blue is used for hunting small game and birds, and for retrieving from land as well as water. Size doesn't matter in this breed, as long as he can do his jobs: watch dog and herder of flock. In some instances in England, he has even been used for police work. If you're a follower of dog shows, you'll remember Kerry Blue Terrier CH. Torums Scarf Michael, who won best in show at the 2002 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.

With my versions of hot pastrami sandwiches, I can make them in just a few minutes over the hour it takes to slow cooker corned beef and cabbage and pastrami in beef broth. You may be able to find corned beef at a deli where you live.

Surprise Dad with a home-cooked dinner of his favorite foods. Will it be slow cooker corned beef casserole and cabbage, spaghetti and meatballs, arros con pollo or sushi? Get together with other family members to prepare a great meal, including a big cake for the after-dinner ceremony honoring Dad. Of course, you may prefer having it all delivered from a restaurant. That may be OK, but not as much fun.

I am sitting in my living room as I write this with the patio doors wide open, allowing the sunlight to flood in. Why am I not in the garden? It's too bloody hot, that's why not! The perils of a south-facing garden. Yes, it looks beautiful bathed in sunlight, but I have delicate British skin that will burn to a crisp within minutes if I'm not slathered from head to foot in factor 30. And if I do that, the sweat will soon begin dripping from my forehead. Don't get me wrong, I love the sun. Most of my holidays involve seeking out some tropical beach, preferably in the South Pacific, however, there I also have the ocean to cool off in. No such luck in my tiny garden. So I will sit inside and admire the summer from the cool sanctuary of my living room.

Following is a list of 2009 parade dates and times for these five cities, with links to the official parade sites. Note that some parades are held on St. Patrick's Day and others take place during the previous weekend.
