5 Shortcuts For Thanksgiving Cooking



It's a common problem. Eating out with your family. Just last week we spent almost $60 for our family of four to eat out. And then the kids were begging to go miniature golfing after wards. Are you kidding me?

mac and cheese is also delicious with some salsa and browned ground beef mixed up in it! Adding extra cheddar cheese is always nice! You may want to throw in a few cooked chopped bell peppers and/or some diced cooked tomatoes! This makes a Mexican style slow cooker bbq mac and cheese dish that is fabulous and hearty! Top off the dish with some crushed tortilla chips over the top! Yum.

"Too old, too cold," my husband said, but I noticed the little register of interest hiding behind his eyes. He's not too old, but the cold water, well that's a deal breaker macaroni cheese gouda him.

I almost always get 2 servings of the absolutely creamy and delicious Mac and macaroni cheese along with 1 serving of Mashed Potatoes if I'm being bad...or 1 serving of Steamed Veggies if I'm being good! For the non-vegetarian you can get main meal items such as Hand-Carved Roasted Turkey or Original Rotisserie Chicken - but the Chicken seems to be the main pull for most of my friends.

Remember to watch what you eat. Eating junk food doesn't help anyone feel good, and it's an especially bad idea when your mood is already low from cold, gloomy weather. Be sure you're getting plenty of protein and good fats in your diet. Good fats are those that have nourished humans for centuries - butter, coconut oil, olive oil, animal fats, and fish oils. Avoid industrial oils like corn oil and soybean oil. Fish oils are especially good at helping lift the mood so try and include seafood in your diet slow cooker mac and cheese supplement with cod liver oil.

No more of those silvery pom-pom senior mom perms anymore either - you know the kind that make you look like someone pasted tight little aluminum foil curls to your head. It would be too expensive to go to the hairdresser. Forget your orthotic shoes your reading glasses (hold those arms out a little farther). OMG, what about dentures?

Even though eating seasonal foods is important, and I highly recommend it, you can also have some fun in the winter. If having a big fruit salad mid-winter will help you feel better, go ahead and make one with the local grocer's produce bounty! Fresh salads can also help you feel great. Frozen vegetables are a good choice if you'd like out of season treats. Remember to serve veggies with plenty of fat (olive oil on salads and butter on steamed veggies) to help you absorb all nutrients.

We will also intermittently personally feed him a food that he likes, so that he can trust and not be so suspicious that someone will trick him. However, he will remain the one in full control of the new foods.
