Tenders are invited for Hazardous Waste Removal.
SCOPE OF SERVICES:
1.0 Description of Services Required:
Assist UNBC with the removal of hazardous wastes from the
University s Prince George
Campus, and to destroy and/or dispose and/or recycle and/or treat
these hazardous
wastes, as appropriate.
2.0 Project Deliverables
The contractor will be required to work closely with the University
of Northern British
Columbia - Risk Management and Chemstores departments to ensure
that all aspects of
the hazardous waste handling services are provided as required.
Contractor will indicate the method of destruction and/or disposal
and/or recycling and/or
treatment for each waste type. Contractor must warrant that the
facilities they use to
destroy and/or dispose and/or recycle and/or treat each waste type
comply with all
applicable laws and that the Contractor and the Facility have all
permits and licenses
required to carry out the tasks. Such proof must be made available
to the http://www.glasstechrecycling.co.uk/ University upon
request.
The Contractor will collect the hazardous waste from the University
of Northern British
Columbia Hazardous Material Area in the Teaching Lab Building, with
the exception of
glycol that will be picked up from the Power Plant in very close
proximatey to the Teaching
Lab Building. The pick-up areas for these building do not have a
loading dock, so the
contractor will need to use a truck with a hydraulic lift tailgate.
Waste collection is
expected to occur 1 to 2 times during a 12 month period. This
collection will take place
within 30 days of receiving a request from the University
Dispensing Chemist, or his
designate, on a date mutually agreed upon by the University of
Northern British Columbia -
Risk Management and Safety Office and the contractor. The amount of
hazardous waste
in a 12 month period is not expected to be below 2000 litres.
Prior to collecting any hazardous waste resulting from this
contract, the Contractor is to
inspect, at no additional cost, the on site storage facilities at
UNBC to ensure that our
storage containers comply with the best safety practices and all
applicable laws and
regulations. The Contractor should than, within 10 days of the
visit, submit written
recommendations to the University s Vice President of
Administration and Finance to
remedy any deficiencies.
At the time of collection, the Contractor will be provided with a
list of the constituents of
each hazardous waste container. The Contractor will then be
responsible for correctly
completing the manifests and transporting forms, as well as
providing Transportation of
Dangerous goods labeling and placards. Additional packing and
bulking may be required
during pickup.
The Contractor will provide and utilize the services of a minimum
of one person who is
fully qualified to respond to any incident that may arise involving
